The Graduate Training Centre of Neuroscience (GTC) / International Max Planck Research School for Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience (IMPRS) is the centerpiece of neuroscience training in Tübingen. It is affiliated with the Unversity of Tübingen’s cluster of excellence, the Werner Reichardt Centre for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN) and operates international neuroscience degree programs which offer a comprehensive theoretical and practical training in a wide range of neuroscience topics under the guidance of leading neuroscientists. In addition to three masters programs, the GTC/IMPRS also runs a doctoral program with supplementary neuroscience and soft skills training. Currently, 85 masters and some 250 doctoral students are enrolled and are being offered more than 65 English taught courses in neurosciences and state-of-the-art methods.
The individual graduate programs have their specific scientific foci and complement one another optimally. Together, they provide a markedly broad spectrum of neuroscience research and training opportunities, which has made Tübingen a prime location for graduate students interested in any one of the many aspects of neuroscience. Teaching is entirely in English.
In Tübingen, neuroscience research and training is interdisciplinary, bridging gaps between traditionally separated disciplines. This is achieved by highly networked scientists at various university and extra-university institutions and research centres, based on Tübingen’s joint platform of neuroscientific research, the CIN. The GTC/IMPRS is an integral part of these institutions and centres and, thus, can take full advantage of the lively research community and the state-of-the-art facilities for theoretical and practical training of their students.
